Who Do You Suppose This Associate Is Voting For?
Doug Palin has seen many things during his 41-year real estate career. And now he has the chance to watch his nephew's wife vie for one of the most prestigious titles in America.
Gov. Sarah Palin, Republican John McCain's vice presidential running mate, is married to Doug's nephew, Todd. Doug, a Sales Associate with RE/MAX Equity Group in Vancouver, Wash., says it's surreal, but very exciting, to see Sarah in the national spotlight.
"The whole family is very proud of her," says Doug, who first met Sarah 20 years ago.
Doug last saw Todd and Sarah at a family gathering he hosted at his house in Washington. Because Gov. Palin and her family live in Alaska, Doug says they don't see each other that often.
Many people in Doug's area know of his connection to Sarah, who might become the country's first female vice president. Strangers often make the connection and ask if he's related to her.
"It's exciting to see people respond to Sarah," he says. "She's a really cool lady. I think she's a great asset to the Republican party."
